Our pediatric cardiology clinic has around 5,500 patient contacts per year. The entire range of pediatric cardiology diagnostics is available including cardiac MRI and CT scanning (in cooperation with the Division of Paediatric Radiology). Patients with heart arrhythmia, implanted pacemakers, defibrillators or loop recorders are treated in our Special Clinic for Pediatric Arrhythmology. In close cooperation with the Division of Cardiology, adults with congenital heart defects receive care at a special clinic in our division. Prenatal diagnostics of congenital heart defects is conducted along with the Division of Obstetrics during fetal organ screening.
Our pediatric heart catheter lab conducts around 120 procedures per year, the majority of which are heart catheterizations. In cooperation with the Special Clinic for Pediatric Arrhythmology at the Division of Cardiology, electrophysiological tests and ablation therapy are administered to children with arrhythmia. Our center performs 50–70 surgeries on patients with congenital heart defects every year. Following heart surgery at the Division of Cardiac Surgery, our patients are treated in the pediatric intensive care ward of our division.
The uniqueness and the added value of our division are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The division is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes). This interdisciplinary cooperation between both providers at the University Hospital Graz site is also reflected on our website. More information on patient care can be found at the University Hospital Graz website.
